Production Planner
Business: SPS Technologies Aerospace Fasteners
Location: Jenkintown, Pennsylvania 19046
Reports to: Manager of Production Control
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
A multi-function position that is responsible for planning, updating and monitoring of a manufacturing schedule, establishing delivery dates and coordinating manufacturing activity to support the master schedule and material requirements. This position works with outside vendors, engineering and/or quality to achieve sales goals and inventory control.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Schedule and monitor production input and output using the Master Production Schedule (MPS), Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) and priority planning reports for a major account, product code or a group of customers.
- Estimate production time for each order giving consideration to availability of machines, material and tooling, number of operations involved, manufacturing backlog, order quantity, complexity of product (i.e. assemblies), outside operations, previous history, etc.
- Examine the status of each order by reviewing work-in-process, open orders, material status, tools on order, over-dues, etc. and checking with schedulers and expediters. Audit work-in-process for potential short yields, order closing, abnormal delays, and progress, and advise schedulers and production supervisors of problems and request corrective action.
- Communicate with customers on non-commercial, delivery related issues.
- Work to maintain minimum inventory levels (materials and WIP) while meeting customer and budget requirements.
- Assist in development of new or improved manufacturing and production control systems.
- Assertive, high profile, communicative individual.
- Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to implement systems and communicate effectively with engineering group, purchasing, tooling, inside sales and quality control.
- Must be able to identify problems in supporting customer requirements and coordinate efforts of manufacturing and support groups to prevent and/or resolve issues and to maintain integrity of schedule dates.
Requirements:
- Associates Degree or equivalent, plus five years in manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of scheduling systems, inventory management and capacity planning practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to interface with all levels of organization and customer management.
- Commitment to continuous improvement concepts and practices.
- Personal computer with Excel experience a must. Additional PC knowledge of Access, SQL, or MRP applicable software preferred.
