SPS Technologies Offers Fasteners Manufactured From New Super-Tough Multiphase® Superalloy
May 20, 2005
JENKINTOWN, Pa. – SPS Technologies, a leading manufacturer of high-strength fasteners and precision components since 1903, offers fasteners manufactured from a superalloy designated SPS MP98T™. This recently-developed material exhibits a combination of strength, toughness and corrosion resistance not previously available in a fastener material.
The new MP98T fasteners offer users a minimum tensile strength of 180 ksi. Typical fracture toughness values on MP98T specimens tested per ASTM E1820 exceed 200 ksi ● in -1/2. MP98T fasteners' strength level and unprecedented fracture toughness make them ideal for critical aerospace engine and airframe applications. The Ni-Co base alloy is extremely resistant to all forms of corrosion and also resists embrittlement in high-pressure hydrogen environments, such as rocket motors using liquid hydrogen for fuel.
MP98T bolts and nuts are available in a variety of configurations and sizes.
SPS Technologies supplies high-strength fasteners for commercial and military aircraft, jet engines, high performance piston engines and other applications requiring reliability and consistent quality. SPS Technologies product engineers, supported by an experienced technical staff, are available to assist in product design and material selection.
