SPS Self-Locking Nuts Maintain Fastener Preload
May 6, 2005
Jenkintown, PA – SPS Technologies offers a line of prevailing-torque locknuts for securing screws, studs, bolts and other threaded fasteners. Designated FLEXLOC ® self-locking nuts, these one-piece all-metal nuts resist impact, shock and vibration to keep fasteners tight and at the proper preload.
Because they lock without seating, they can be positioned anywhere along a stud bolt or screw, making them suitable for use as stop nuts. Unlike locknuts that utilize nylon inserts, all threads are load-bearing to withstand even the most severe vibration. The result is greater reliability without the need for auxiliary locking devices and a useable temperature range from sub-zero to 800 ºF.
FLEXLOC nuts are available in UNJF or UNJC series and in a variety of configurations, sizes (both inch and metric), materials and finishes for a wide range of applications. These include heavy-duty and light hex in both full- and thin-height versions; microsize for miniature assemblies; and 8-pitch series for oil industry applications. Also offered are standard and microsize clinch nuts for mounting in thin section materials, special locknuts are available on request.
Finishes include plain and cadmium- or zinc-plated steel and brass; plain and silver-plated stainless steel; and plain and anodized aluminum. Other materials and alloys are available on special order.
