NEW TITAN™ Titanium Fasteners for High Performance Racing Offered by SPS Technologies
April 21, 2006
JENKINTOWN, PA - SPS Technologies, a leading manufacturer of high-strength fasteners since 1903, offers fasteners manufactured from a specially processed titanium alloy. This newly modified alloy overcomes the fastener size and strength limitations associated with traditional titanium alloys allowing users to capitalize on the lightweight advantages of titanium without compromising strength. Designated Titan 200™, this alloy was developed with the high performance racing industry in mind: designed for cylinder-head studs, suspension bolts and other high strength race-car applications.
Most traditional titanium fastener alloys exhibit minimum tensile strengths of 160,000 ksi. SPS TITAN 200 parts offer 200,000 ksi minimum tensile strength combined with excellent fatigue resistance. Many manufacturers offer steel parts at 180,000 ksi. Titan 200 fasteners can help reduce car weight in two ways. Fewer high strength fasteners are required per assembly. Titan 200 parts are 40% lighter than comparable alloy steel parts.
SPS TITAN 200 studs, bolts and nuts are available in a variety of sizes and configurations for use in cylinder head, suspension and other applications.
SPS Technologies, a well-respected manufacturer of aerospace fasteners, is also a recognized supplier of fastener products for motorsports around the world, including connecting rod bolts and engine, transmission and chassis fasteners for Formula One, NASCAR Winston Cup, IndyCar, Cart, NHRA, Busch Grand National Series, Craftsman Truck Series and ASA.
